God Shows His Presence.

I almost thought I was going to have to write a post about how the New York Jets were going to the Super Bowl, but God showed his power today and let Peyton Manning and the Colts come back from eleven down in the first half to defeat the Jets 30-17 in the AFC Championship game.

Some knee jerk reactions from this one :

Mark Sanchez, who I have come to dislike immensely over the past month, actually had himself a pretty nice game. I thought he would be a turnover machine, but he only managed to throw one interception. His two touchdown passes were impressive on his part. The first one to Braylon Edwards showed a lot of touch and precise accuracy and his second to Dustin Keller showed his poise in the pocket. He took quite the hit on the touchdown to Keller, but he still managed to hit his target in the chest. I like to hate, because that’s what opposing fans do, but I can see why so many people are high on Sanchez. He has started just two seasons since graduating high school and they have both been pretty good, let the kid get some more experience under his belt and he’s going to be a star.

Outside of Darrelle Revis, who did not have a great second half in his own right, the Jets secondary was tough to watch. Granted that Peyton Manning has the power to do that, but Dwight Lowery and Lito Sheppard had a very hard time with Austin Collie and Pierre Garcon and I almost felt bad for them. Almost.

Manning, as usual, was brilliant, throwing for three touchdowns , while completing 26 of his 39 attempts. The man will go down as a top 5 quarterback to ever play the game and this performance showed why. He never lost his cool, he seemed to have never panicked, and he did what a winner would do and he led his team. It still blows my mind that there was almost a debate as to who the Colts should have taken in the 1998 draft. I can’t even imagine the direction the Colts would have gone had they drafted Ryan Leaf. Just thinking about it makes me feel dirty.

So one team’s ticket has been punched for Super Bowl XLIII, and as expected, it was the Indianapolis Colts, and thank the Lord above that it was them and not the Jets. The gift the Colts gave the Jets in week 16 was enough, I don’t if I could of handled two more weeks of Rex Ryan and Mark Sanchize chode slobbering from the talking heads at ESPN.
